18th Annual SOCS Scientific Symposium:
Diversity in Action: Science, Healthcare & Society
Live and in person! We are thrilled to be returning to a live, in-person format. The 18th Annual Skin of Color Society Scientific Symposium, Diversity in Action: Science, Healthcare & Society, is taking place in Boston, Massachusetts at the Omni Boston Hotel at the Seaport, Ensemble EFG, on Thursday, March 24, 2022 in conjunction with the 2022 AAD Annual Meeting.
As we return to meeting in person, we expect that the Symposium will attract another record-setting crowd of international colleagues, residents, and research fellows. Researchers from around the U.S. and the world will present new research in skin of color dermatology, share key insights and discuss the continuing evolution of the field. With the ever-increasing importance of skin of color dermatology around the world, the Skin of Color Society continues to grow in size, scope and impact. In addition to our invited expert speakers, we will have residents, fellows, and medical students featured in oral and poster presentations.

COVID-19 Health & Safety Precautions
COVID-19 VACCINATION STATUS
Our first priority is the safety of all those attending the Scientific Symposium. The Boston Public Health Commission has eliminated its indoor mask mandate except on public transportation, in health care and congregate care settings, and in public schools. Scientific Symposium attendees and guests are asked to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19. SOCS relies on attendees’ and guests’ attestations and does not independently verify vaccination status.
“Fully vaccinated” is defined by the CDC as of 1/10/22 as follows, “People who are fully vaccinated are those who received the second dose in a two-dose COVID-19 vaccine series or one dose of the J&J/Janssen COVID-19 vaccine.”
Attendees and guests must monitor their own health status and not attend the Meeting if symptomatic of COVID-19 in any way or if they believe they have been exposed to someone with COVID-19.
MASK POLICY
SOCS recommends that participants at the 18th Annual SOCS Scientific Symposium wear masks while in Ensemble EFG meeting room, but this is no longer a mandatory requirement.
2022 AAD ANNUAL MEETING
As an ancillary meeting of the American Academy of Dermatology (AAD) 2022 Annual Meeting, SOCS is staying up to date with the COVID-19 health and safety travel protocols followed by the AAD for their 2022 Annual Meeting. (AAD. 2021. 2022 Annual Meeting: Health and Safety Travel Resources. AAD. https://www.aad.org/member/meetings-education/am22/housing/travel-safety.)
