Nkanyezi Ferguson, MD, FAAD, FACMS

Dr. Nkanyezi (Kanya) Ferguson is a clinical associate professor and Surgical Director in the Department of Dermatology at the University of Missouri. She completed her dermatology residency and Fellowship in Micrographic Surgery and Dermatologic Oncology at the University of Iowa. Her surgical focus is on cutaneous oncology and surgical reconstruction. Her clinical and academic interests include general dermatology, skin of color, and global dermatology. She served as the Director of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in Graduate Medical Education at the University of Iowa and is the outgoing chair of the AAD Diversity Committee. She is involved in local and international medical community outreach clinics serving underserved communities. She has received the American Academy of Dermatology Presidential Citation Award and National Minority Quality Forum’s 40 Under 40 Leaders in Minority Health Award in recognition of her work.
