Dr. Yolanda Lenzy is a board-certified dermatologist specializing in medical, surgical and cosmetic skin and hair care for adults and children. Her research and clinical practice focuses on hair and scalp disorders and skin disease in skin of color. She received her medical degree from the University of Maryland, her Master’s in Public Health from Harvard University and her Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry and Health Promotion from American University, where she graduated with top honors. She completed her Dermatology Residency in the Boston University/Tufts University Combined Dermatology Residency Program. Prior to college, Dr. Lenzy trained in cosmetology and has been a licensed cosmetologist for over 15 years. Her background as a hair stylist fueled her passion to focus her career on optimizing care for the hair and scalp from a medical perspective. Dr. Lenzy has participated in numerous studies on photo-aging, psoriasis and various causes of hair loss, including partnering with local hair salons to educate stylists on ways to help prevent styling induced hair loss. She has authored numerous publications for academic journals, book chapters and patient education materials. She has presented her research to many scientific meetings around the world.
